How verified holder voting works

What proof of hold actually does

The system reads the wallet's balance of the token directly from the chain — an SPL token account on Solana, an ERC-20 balanceOf call on EVM chains — and only counts the vote if the balance clears a threshold. No signature, no transaction, no gas.

It proves the voter holds the asset at that moment. It does not prove identity, and it should not pretend to.

One wallet, one vote versus weighted voting

• One wallet, one vote measures breadth of community — whales cannot buy the outcome, but wallet-splitting is easier.
• Balance-weighted voting measures conviction — harder to sybil, but the result is effectively the whale's opinion.
• Weekly resets limit the value of any single manipulation, because next Monday everyone starts from zero again.

Running a weekly vote that people care about

• Fix the schedule and never move it.
• Publish the totals publicly and permanently.
• Never mix votes and payments in the same number — show sentiment and spend as separate columns.
• Explain the threshold and the reset rules on the page itself.

Using vote data

Verified vote counts are useful evidence in listing conversations, partnership pitches and community reporting precisely because a third party enforced the rules. Screenshot-able sentiment that someone else verified is worth more than any number you publish about yourself.
